Review for week 25 - by Ed

Tasted by Bill, Chris, John, Ssezi, Steve.

Week XXV: Welcome to our Silver Anniversary! This week's lesson is about being a team player. Like Chris took one for the team in week 23, and drank white wine and I'm writing a review for a week I missed, <<insert winer noise here>>. Fear not, there is NO I in team, plus drinking wine isn't exactly the same thing as leaning into the strike zone. How close did we come to that? Well to tell the truth, based on the audio, there were a few close calls this week. They can't all be gems and that's why your reading this. Enjoy!!

2000 Stefano Farina — Barbaresco
Wine #1$24.00

2000 Stefano Farina — Barbaresco

Original heading: “2000 Stefano Farina - Barbaresco

For $24 this one rated, overall pleasant but not awe inspiring. It's smoother than a Chanti but not too fruity. There's some poor wine label writer schmoo cringing at this review.... Well when your wine looks like Brandy, as in Wine, not the singer, you get a bad reputation, plus some funny looks. Score this one a hard grounder up the middle that easily beats the throw to first for a single.

2003 Tiziano — Chianti
Wine #2$8.00
1.80 / 2.004 buy

2003 Tiziano — Chianti

Will the real Chianti please stand up! The Tiziano came in as the best wine this week with the lowest cost at $8. Even though everyone doesn't like Chianti, the group liked this one as smooth, light berry taste. The audio is just as good if not better on this one. *"Light hint of metalic".. "The best, of the cheap Chianti's, I've had!".. "Smells like a Chianti, tastes like a Chianti, it must be a Chianti.".. "Not awesome but not bad. For 8 bucks I'd drink this everyday, if I were an alcholic!" * It's too much. Every time I play that clip, I laugh! Score this one as a dinger off the scoreboard for a double.

2002 Kirralaa — Bushvine Shiraz
Wine #3$15.00
1.20 / 2.001 buy

2002 Kirralaa — Bushvine Shiraz

Original heading: “2002 Kirralaa - Bushvine Shiraz

Coming in at $15, it's best described as an enjoyable wine with lots of depth, earthlyness, smokiness, fruity with a nice lingering finish. Other people thought it was a real meaty wine with a Melbec taste. Very Drinkable, and enjoyable. Here's an interesting tid bit on this one, it's made by the GM & Ford of the wine world, Rosemount Estate and Robert Mondavi Don't let that deter you, this ones a nice drink. Score this one as a line drive over the first basemen for a single.

2002 Blue Tongue — Merlot
Wine #4
1.20 / 2.001 buy

2002 Blue Tongue — Merlot

Original heading: “2002 Blue Tongue - Merlot

A non offenensive, way too, initally, sweet, with a cherry plumb scent. This was ok but nothing special, you know non offensive so you can't say anything bad, more important you couldn't say anything really good. Keep the Blue Tongue off you tongue and invest the 10 in something better. Steve wanted to find a retail outlet's smell to compare this Merlot to. He really couldn't connect a tire store smell to it. In Steve's spare time he works on cars. Isn't that nice... We were waiting for Winer S1 to get back to the table and finish the review but crew was 3 bottles into it, and none too smooth on the segue way. And 2002 was a year. 3.5 bottles into it...Score this one as a pop fly to right field for an easy out.
