Week 18· April 4, 2006· by Ed

Review for Tuesday - 04/04/06 by Ed

Tasted by Bill, Chris, Ed, Rich, Ssezi, Steve.

Week 18 and we're still drinking, how about you? This was our first visit to Rich's house. We packed up games, wines and headed in with total abandonment. Not to fear we're house broken, we didn't have to break in, or break in the house. Good wine needs good food so we ordered some Pig Pizza from a local joint. The joint makes *gems* as far as we are concerned. Pig Pizza and wine, woo hoo!!! Check out the wine reviews and audio clips. Many Thanks for hosting Rich!

2004 Dry Creek Vineyard — Fumé Blanc
Wine #1$9.00
1.67 / 2.004 buy

2004 Dry Creek Vineyard — Fumé Blanc

Original heading: “2004 Dry Creek Vineyard - Fumé Blanc

This $9 wine was best described as a dry citrus white with a pleasant taste, well suited for warm weather. The take away from that *gem* is you don't want a heavy red wine when your heading for the pool. 'Cause chlorine and red wine don't mix, belly flops or not. If you like a light dry white with good flavor then check this one out. **See Week 17's special about white wine and sex appeal. ;)**

Mclearean Vale, Australia, invokes images of lunatics with big knives and funny accents, right?. Well this wine has nothing to do with any of that rubbish! We were well into the second pizza, or was it the second Pig Pizza, anyway, we found ourselves busy clogging our arteries with MEAT, and this bottle popped on the scene. Ya dig, daddy o? You'll find this one full of complex flavors of long tannins and a very nice spicy finish. Most of us liked this one, but the $19 dollar price tag kept us from the top tier of **buy**.

Here's a wine with a big price tag, $42 freaking large, that didn't live up to it's billing. A Colossal Carneros let down! Let's sum this one up with, pong on the nose, not so smooth ending. There's nothing special about this experience. NO HAPPY ENDING! What the hell is a Swedish kick? ***The audio clip is worth the price of admission on this one, Or it could be used as leverage against a certain someone!***

The next wine was meet with no enthusiasm, whatsoever. Whilst the flavor was initially good, the finish soured into, gasp, *puckersville* The RWW crew was split right down the middle, drink it, no buy Or no thank you very much. Steve was more of the thang ooo verwy muucg. Rich forgot to mention he has cats and we learned that Steve and cats don't mix. Just add wine, and wait for the warm fuzzy feeling.

2004 Indaba — Shiraz
Wine #5$8.00
1.50 / 2.003 buy

2004 Indaba — Shiraz

Here's the winner of Week 18! Everyone would drink/no buy and the half would drink/buy it. That's a glowing endorsement from the RWW. This $8 South African Shiraz had plum/berry on the nose that hits ya with lots of spice. If you like an inexpensive spicy Shiraz with lot of complexity, check this one out!
