Week 3· December 13, 2005
Review for Tuesday - 12/13/2005
Week 3 is upon us, and no doubt the wine companies quake in their collective grape-stained galoshes in anticipation of our findings! Despite their [*ever increasing pressure*](#comment1) we shan't bow to the will of 'big-wine'. We continue to be committed to giving you the straight story on the wines we sample, and no amount of money (under $50) shall shake the foundations of that commitment! Now on to this weeks unmitigated wining -
The wines (5)
2004 Avila — Pinot Noir
Original heading: “2004 Avila - Pinot Noir”
This is actually (and perhaps oddly) one of the more polarizing wines we've reviewed so far - the reviewers were split nearly down the middle. Two not willing to drink it even for free and three giving it a wine-to-buy rating. Based on this I can't give it a strong recommendation. At $13 we'll have to call this a hit-or-miss. If you're looking for something to drink on your own, give it a try, but if you desire something safe and widely enjoyable to bring to a dinner party - look elsewhere.

2004 Wrongo Dongo — Jumilla
Original heading: “2004 Wrongo Dongo - Jumilla”
Ahhhh... some good friends and a bottle of 2004 Wrongo Dongo... Does it get any better than this?? ....Well, actually yes- yes it does. Coming in at around $10, there are cheaper and better Jumilla's available. The cutesy name might buy it some marks, and the bottle does say '*Dongo to the party without it*', but in the end we think you're plenty safe to leave it at home (or on the shelf).

200? Tedeschi — Ulupalakua Red
Original heading: “200? Tedeschi - Ulupalakua Red”
This may be a bit of a challenge to acquire outside of Hawaii, but if you do spot it in your local wine shop, grab it and enjoy. This fairly viscous wine was our favorite of the week and had subtle flavors to please a variety of tastes. Many thanks to Steve for lugging it back to the mainland for us.

2003 Wolf Blass — Shiraz
Original heading: “2003 Wolf Blass - Shiraz”
An easy drinking but not outstanding Shiraz. We payed $14 for it, which may be a little higher than the going rate. If you can get it for $10 or so we'd say it's a worthwhile purchase - but at the higher price we're split over whether there's enough to distinguish it from a variety of cheaper Shiraz's.

2000 Terra Unica — Alicante
Original heading: “2000 Terra Unica - Alicante”
A deep feeling wine with plenty of flavor. Loved by some and liked by others. Either way you likely won't go wrong here for $10, so drink away!
